A Good Ancestor Thinks of the Folks Forward

Bob and Alice reside on a gorgeous 56-acre property they’ve lovingly rewilded from farmland with pioneer forest by planting native timber, shrubs and different crops, restoring a stream and creating area for wildlife to thrive.

“We’re a part of the panorama right here, and it’s an actual honour to be ignored by all of the wild species we share our area with. Not solely does the wildlife right here not think about us to be a menace, they don’t actually think about us in any respect. It was heartbreaking not too long ago when our neighbour clear-cut a lot of the forest on her property. We have now owl nest bins in our a part of the woods, and there was a pair of barred owls there. We might hear them hooting and hooting because the clear chopping was getting nearer and louder and we wished we might inform them they have been on the protected facet of the boundary line. I’m honored to volunteer with Nature Nova Scotia, and Nature Canada has been a constant and demanding associate for us, serving to increase native voices for nature. We’re proud to present month-to-month and have made a present in our Will. Alice and I imagine that all of us have to be a great ancestor, one step at a time. And similar to you may’t change the woodpile suddenly, you do a bit daily, and your intentional (and joyful!) steps add up.” – Bob

“I’m an artist and nature has all the time been my muse. My mom was additionally an artist and I keep in mind becoming a member of her for walks within the woods, discovering waterfalls and having my very own freedom to discover and discover birds, salamanders and every kind of wonders. I keep in mind as a child it might need been geeky or nerdy to be desirous about nature—however everyone knows it’s very neat and funky! I really like capturing landscapes: earth, water, wind. We imagine that nature has an inherent worth, a proper to exist for its personal stunning sake. And I really feel that Nature Canada aligns with our values. And we really feel strident that in our lifetime, we should do what we are able to for nature, and that we’ll be finest remembered as individuals who lived our lives as protectors of nature. We reside these values at this time, and wish to be sure they reside on, ceaselessly.” – Alice
